During the same event, Putin praised the sacrifices of past generations and affirmed that Russia’s triumph is inevitable. He lauded the veterans and the Russian Armed Forces, declaring victory as a perennial attribute of the nation. Meanwhile, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian Presidential Press Secretary, mentioned that discussions on extending the ceasefire in Ukraine beyond May 11 have not taken place yet.
Responding to queries regarding US President Donald Trump’s suggestion to prolong the ceasefire, Peskov highlighted the complexity of the Ukrainian conflict resolution process. He acknowledged the intricate nature of reaching a peace agreement and commented on the US’s eagerness to mediate in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. Additionally, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, present at the Victory Day celebrations, emphasized the significance of preserving the memory of the Victory Day events and the importance of honoring the historical victory.
