India’s badminton star PV Sindhu was present at the IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Accompanied by her husband Venkata Datta Sai, the couple sported orange attire, backing the home team along with franchise owner Kavya Maran. Sindhu recently participated in the Uber Cup, where India’s campaign concluded after a loss to China in the final Group A fixture.
Former world champion PV Sindhu made a spirited comeback in the first singles match against world no 2 Wang Zhi Yi. Despite leading for most of the third game and holding an 18-12 advantage in the decider, Wang staged a comeback with seven consecutive points to clinch the victory. India’s Isharani Baruah and Devika Sihag also faced tough challenges against their Chinese opponents but couldn’t secure wins.
In the Uber Cup, Isharani was defeated by former Olympic Champion Chen Yu Fei, while Devika lost to Xu Wen Jing. The Indian women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Kavipriya Selvam showed promise by winning the opening game but eventually lost the match. The match between SRH and KKR saw SRH opting to bat after winning the toss, with both teams making changes in their playing XI.
