Fresh from her victory at the Japan Open, PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, is set to headline India’s participation at the China Open 2026, a prestigious BWF Super 1000 tournament starting this Tuesday. Sindhu, who recently ended a long title drought by clinching the Japan Open title, will enter the China Open with high confidence after defeating Akane Yamaguchi in the final.
Having previously won the China Open in 2016, the 31-year-old Sindhu aims to capitalize on her recent success and continue her strong performance on the BWF World Tour. India will be represented by three players in the women’s singles category, including Devika Sihag and young talent Unnati Hooda alongside Sindhu.
In the men’s singles event, Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and HS Prannoy will represent India. The men’s doubles category will feature MR Arjun and Hariharan Amsakarunan, as Asian Games champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have withdrawn due to Satwik’s shoulder injury.
India’s participation in the mixed doubles will include pairs like Tanisha Crasto with Dhruv Kapila and Rohan Kapoor with Ruthvika Shivani Gadde. Notably, India will not have any representation in the women’s doubles competition. With Sindhu in top form and young talents eager to shine, the China Open offers a significant opportunity for India’s shuttlers to gain momentum in the BWF World Tour season.
