He revealed that Yui Susaki, the captain of Haryana Thunders and a Japanese wrestling star, will participate in the next season. Susaki, a highly accomplished wrestler, won gold in the women’s 50 kg category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics without conceding a single point.
The four-time world champion, Yui Susaki, led Haryana Thunders to victory in PWL 2026 by defeating Delhi Dangal Warriors in the final at the Noida Indoor Stadium. Gupta emphasized the importance of Susaki’s commitment to the league and the increasing popularity of PWL. He mentioned that Susaki confirmed her participation for the upcoming season, highlighting her motivation and the league’s success.
Gupta discussed the role of coaches and praised the contribution of Indian coaches in PWL. He mentioned ongoing discussions about expanding the league to include Greco-Roman wrestling, with talks initiated with international and national bodies. Gupta expressed confidence in the potential growth of the league and the representation of various wrestling styles under the Indian flag.
