Qatar strongly criticized an Iranian attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, causing fires and damage to the LNG facility. The attack was labeled a dangerous escalation and a violation of state sovereignty by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Despite Qatar’s efforts to stay out of conflicts and prevent escalation, Iran’s actions were seen as irresponsible and a threat to regional stability. Qatar urged for the protection of civilian and energy facilities to maintain peace in the region.
Qatar denounced the attack as a breach of a UN Security Council resolution and reserved the right to self-defense under the UN Charter. The country declared Iranian Embassy staff as “persona non grata” and demanded their immediate departure.
