Legendary Indian cricketers Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble were honored at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The stadium ends were named after them ahead of the IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Karnataka State Cricket Association unveiled the “Rahul Dravid End” and the “Anil Kumble End” during a ceremony attended by the players’ family members.
KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad, a former India fast bowler and teammate of Dravid and Kumble, led the event. The old BEML end was renamed after Dravid, while the pavilion end now bears Kumble’s name. The association had previously announced that the two cricketers would be honored with stands or ends named after them.
Dravid expressed his gratitude, stating that the stadium had been like a second home to him. He acknowledged the role of the KSCA and the iconic ground in shaping his career. Dravid and Kumble, who have both captained India and later coached the national team, were joined by their family members at the ceremony.
Both players emphasized the importance of their contributions to Karnataka cricket. Dravid’s mother and brother, along with Kumble’s wife and children, were present at the event. They highlighted the significance of having their contributions recognized and permanently honored at the stadium.
