Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the Adivasi Professionals Conclave 2026, accused the BJP and RSS of holding an anti-Adivasi mindset. He highlighted the ruling dispensation’s alleged efforts to deprive tribal communities of their constitutional rights over water, forests, and land.
Gandhi emphasized the significance of Adivasis as the original custodians of India, embodying the nation’s deepest historical consciousness and wisdom. Drawing a contrast between the Congress and the right-wing ideology, he criticized the term “Vanvasi” used by the BJP and RSS, stating it dilutes tribal identity compared to the term “Adivasi.”
The Congress leader underscored the importance of understanding cultural roots for progress, asserting that Adivasis are the foundational roots of India. He warned against attempts to erase national history and disconnect from this cultural heritage, pledging the Congress’s commitment to safeguard tribal rights.
