The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar conducted simultaneous raids at six locations related to Pawan Kumar, a Superintending Engineer in the Building Construction Department. It is alleged that Pawan Kumar amassed assets valued at around Rs 3.89 crore beyond his known income sources. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act based on these allegations.
Pawan Kumar, who holds the position of Superintending Engineer in Patna, is also overseeing the design unit in the Building Construction Department. Investigators claim that the assets acquired by him surpass his legitimate earnings by approximately Rs 3.89 crore, representing a significant increase compared to his lawful income.
Following the issuance of a search warrant by the Special Vigilance Court in Patna, the EOU initiated searches at various properties associated with the engineer. These locations include residences in Patna, Bhagalpur, Noida, and New Delhi. The searches are being supervised by officers of the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Inspector ranks.
Officials are scrutinizing immovable properties, bank accounts, investments, cash holdings, jewellery, and financial documents during the ongoing search operations. The EOU has mentioned that a detailed report on the assets recovered or documents seized will be provided upon the completion of the raids. The investigation is ongoing, and the outcome of the searches and court proceedings will determine the veracity of the disproportionate assets allegations.
