Rainfall provided relief to Delhi-NCR on Thursday, alleviating the humid and warm conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the national capital and nearby areas, predicting cloudy skies, moderate rain spells, and strong surface winds. Delhi saw a decrease in maximum temperature from 33 to 34.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with IMD forecasting temperatures between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius on Thursday along with light rain and gusty winds.
The IMD anticipates the Southwest Monsoon advancing into various parts of North India in the upcoming days, increasing the chances of widespread rainfall in the region. The monsoon’s strengthening is expected to impact weather patterns in multiple northern states, with Uttarakhand already experiencing its effects. The Southwest Monsoon covered Uttarakhand entirely on Wednesday, prompting an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in five districts, including Dehradun.
In Uttarakhand, the monsoon’s rapid progress led to substantial rainfall in various districts, with Dehradun, Jolly Grant, Haldwani, and others receiving significant amounts. The widespread impact of the advancing monsoon is evident across Uttarakhand, with various regions experiencing notable rainfall levels.
