The Rajasthan Assembly faced disruption during the Zero Hour due to irregularities in the SIR. A confrontation arose between the Leader of Opposition and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister over this matter. Congress MLA Zakir Hussain Gaisawat was permitted by the Speaker to address the irregularities in the SIR.
A dispute erupted when Gaisawat began speaking, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel objected, stating that the Election Commission, not the Rajasthan government, is responsible for voter list preparation. Tensions escalated between the Leader of Opposition, Tika Ram Jully, and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, leading to chaos in the House.
The House proceedings were adjourned amidst the commotion until 2 p.m., just before the lunch break. Jully questioned the objection raised, emphasizing the need for an investigation into the submission of fake forms in the SIR. He highlighted the provision for punishment in such cases and demanded clarity on the origin of these applications.
During the Question Hour, the atmosphere in the Assembly intensified while discussing social security pensions and OBC scholarships. Jully expressed dissatisfaction with the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister’s response regarding OBC scholarship figures. The situation escalated further when Jully confronted the minister, threatening to leave if answers were not provided.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Patel criticized Jully’s behavior, deeming it inappropriate. Jully, in turn, criticized the ministers for interrupting him and condemned their conduct. Subsequently, Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the Assembly.
