Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani directed that only the names of elected public representatives should be displayed on plaques during government building inaugurations, regardless of their party affiliation. This directive was given during the Question Hour in the House. Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, responding to queries raised by MLA Shatrughan Gautam, highlighted that plaques on government buildings should only bear the names of elected representatives, from Members of Parliament to Sarpanches, as per the rules.

The Minister warned that any violation of this rule in the future would lead to actions against the responsible officials and employees. He informed the state Assembly that the construction of the Maternal and Child Care Unit at Kekri District Hospital is almost finished and ready for inauguration. An inquiry will be conducted into the premature inauguration of the unit and the unauthorized inscriptions on plaques.

Khimsar also mentioned plans to remove illegal inscriptions on buildings at other medical institutions across the state. He criticized the previous Congress-led state government for hastily inaugurating the incomplete building of the Maternal and Child Care Unit just before the Model Code of Conduct enforcement in September 2023. Names other than those of elected representatives were wrongly inscribed on the plaques without proper permission from the department.

The Minister disclosed that administrative approval of Rs 3396.81 lakh was granted for the construction of a 100-bed Maternal and Child Care Unit at Kekri District Hospital under the National Health Mission Programme Implementation Plan 2021–2022. Following this approval, a tender was issued for the construction work, and the process of transferring the facility will commence upon its full completion. The Medical and Health Department has refrained from formally inaugurating the unit due to its incomplete construction status.
