Jaipur, Aug 15 (IANS) Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant is scheduled to arrive in Jodhpur on Saturday for a day‑long visit on Sunday, during which he will participate in multiple programmes at Jodhpur National Law University (JNLU), the Rajasthan High Court and the District Court, besides attending a joint felicitation ceremony hosted by the city’s two major Bar associations.

According to the programme, the CJI is expected to reach Jodhpur Airport at around 9 PM on Saturday. His visit has generated considerable interest among the Rajasthan High Court, district judiciary, legal fraternity and legal education community.

On Sunday, Justice Surya Kant will begin his engagements at 11:30 AM by attending the 25th Foundation Day ceremony of JNLU. At 12:15 PM, he is scheduled to participate in a programme on “Legal Technology and Ethics Roadmap” and will also be the chief guest at the Vice Chancellors’ Conclave 2.0. The programmes will focus on the growing role of technology, ethics and innovation in legal education and the justice delivery system.

During his visit, the CJI is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a new Rajasthan High Court guest house in Jodhpur. The facility is expected to strengthen accommodation and related infrastructure for judges, judicial officers and other distinguished guests visiting the High Court.

Another key event will take place at the Jodhpur District Court complex, where Justice Surya Kant will inaugurate the newly constructed seven‑storey G‑7 building. The new facility will accommodate courtrooms for approximately 60 courts, along with other judicial infrastructure, addressing the district judiciary’s long‑standing requirement for expanded court facilities.

A major highlight of the visit will be a joint felicitation ceremony for the CJI organised by the Rajasthan High Court Advocates Association and the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association, Jodhpur. The two Bar associations will welcome Justice Surya Kant on a common platform, providing an opportunity for interaction between the Bar and the Bench and strengthening professional ties within the legal community.

Several judges from the Supreme Court and Rajasthan High Court are expected to participate in the programmes. Among those scheduled to attend are Justices Sandeep Mehta and Vijay Bishnoi, along with Rajasthan High Court Acting Chief Justice S.P. Sharma, Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati and other judges.

After completing his engagements in Jodhpur, Justice Surya Kant is scheduled to depart for Delhi at around 5:30 PM on Sunday.

Separately, the Rajasthan High Court administration has organised an Independence Day dinner at a five‑star hotel in Jodhpur. The Registrar General has invited High Court judges, government counsel representing the state before the High Court and office‑bearers of the Bar associations. The High Court administration traditionally organises dinners on Republic Day and Independence Day, and this year’s event is being hosted at a five‑star hotel in the city.
