Jaipur, July 29 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that the state government was committed to providing quality and accessible education to every child in Rajasthan. As part of this commitment, the government launched a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme to provide free school uniforms to students from Classes 1 to 8.
He said the government’s objective was to foster a culture of reading, strengthen foundational literacy skills, and create a positive academic environment in schools.
The Chief Minister was addressing a state-level function held at Khedli Gurjar in Weir tehsil of Bharatpur district on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Wednesday.
He said that, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, the state government was working for the welfare of every section of society.
“Our government not only makes announcements but ensures their timely implementation on the ground. This reflects our work culture,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the government was working with commitment to provide employment opportunities to the youth. During the last two and a half years, government appointments had been provided to more than 1.78 lakh young people. Recruitment was currently underway for over 1.32 lakh posts, while preparations had begun for recruitment to more than 70,000 additional posts.
He emphasised that recruitment processes had been conducted with complete transparency and that strict action had been taken against the paper leak mafia.
The Chief Minister said the state government was making significant progress in women’s empowerment and social security. Around 10 million eligible beneficiaries had been brought under the Food Security Scheme.
He highlighted several welfare initiatives, including increasing the social security pension to Rs 1,450 per month, providing free sonography services to pregnant women under the Ma Voucher scheme, and enabling lakhs of women to become Lakhpati Didis. Farmers were receiving Rs 9,000 annually under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, comprising Rs 6,000 from the Central Government and an additional Rs 3,000 from the State Government. He added that daytime electricity was now being supplied to farmers across 26 districts of the state.
Prioritising water security, the government was expediting major projects such as the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Yamuna Water Agreement, and the Dewas Project. Work was also progressing on several greenfield expressways to strengthen infrastructure, reduce travel time, and accelerate development.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 250 crore through DBT for free school uniforms to more than 4 million eligible students studying in Classes 1 to 8.
He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for educational infrastructure projects worth over Rs 691 crore. Additionally, he launched the Mission Padho Rajasthan Reading Promotion Campaign, released the NIPUN Calendar, distributed tablets to visually impaired students, and honoured teachers for their contributions.
The Chief Minister also dedicated and laid the foundation stones for infrastructure development projects worth over Rs 1,186 crore for Bharatpur and Deeg districts, covering roads, electricity, and drainage works. He performed the bhoomi pujan for a Girls’ Sainik School at Khedli Gurjar and participated in a tree plantation drive.
Responding to local demands, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced the inclusion of Bhusawar in the Braj Regional Development Plan to accelerate the town’s development. He noted that the entire Deeg district, along with villages in the Bayana, Rupbas, Sewar, Nadbai, and Weir tehsils of Bharatpur district, had already been included in the plan to ensure integrated development of the Braj region.
During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with students from across the state through video conferencing. A student who won a gold medal while representing Rajasthan in hockey spoke about balancing sports with academics. Other students shared their innovations and future career aspirations with the Chief Minister. Encouraging the students, he urged them to maintain a balance between academics, sports, and innovation, stating that the youth were the foundation of the nation’s bright future.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, development was reaching every region and every section of society in Rajasthan.
Highlighting initiatives for the empowerment of girls and women, he said the establishment of a Girls’ Sainik School was a matter of pride for the state. He also noted the improving academic performance of government schools and commended teachers for their dedicated efforts in achieving these results.
