In a move to enhance high-tech industrial development and strategic self-reliance, the Rajasthan government has unveiled the Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy. This policy aims to position the state as a prominent center for semiconductor manufacturing and related sectors.
The policy designates the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar and Kankani industrial areas, among other suitable locations, as Priority Semiconductor Corridors. These corridors will provide expedited land allotment, coordinated utility support, and single-window clearances to facilitate rapid project implementation and enhance investor confidence.
Special focus is placed on attracting investments in Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) and Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) segments, as well as sensors and related electronics manufacturing. The policy also aims to bolster the fabless semiconductor design ecosystem within the state.
To realize this vision, the government plans to establish state-of-the-art semiconductor parks and offer attractive incentives to projects approved under the India Semiconductor Mission. Maintaining a business-friendly environment is a crucial aspect of the policy.
The state government will ensure essential infrastructure such as uninterrupted water and power supply, along with streamlined regulatory procedures. Investors seeking to establish semiconductor units in Rajasthan will need to apply through the RajNivesh portal.
For effective implementation, two dedicated bodies – the State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC) and the State Empowered Committee – will be set up. The Department of Industries and Commerce will serve as the central agency for policy execution and coordination. The Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy is in line with the broader semiconductor roadmap of the Central government.
The India Semiconductor Mission, initiated in 2021, received a substantial boost in the recent Union Budget with an allocation of Rs 40,000 crore for Mission 2.0. Key national initiatives like Make in India, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, Semicon India Programme, and Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) have laid a strong foundation for domestic semiconductor growth.
Through this policy, Rajasthan aims to attract significant investments, create skilled employment opportunities, and establish itself as a key player in India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor sector.
