Jaipur, July 30 (IANS) Acting under the direction of Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal and the supervision of Special Police Commissioner Om Prakash, the Crime Surveillance Team (CST), as part of a special drive against criminal activities, raided a fake call centre operating from the third floor of Royal Apartments in the Sindhi Colony area under the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar Police Station.
During the raid, the CST team found 11 persons, including the alleged operator, Salman, at the premises. Special Police Commissioner Om Prakash said the team seized 15 computers, two laptops, and nine mobile phones during the operation.
Preliminary interrogation and technical analysis revealed that the call centre allegedly targeted people from Rajasthan and other states by falsely promising to provide ‘e-Mitra’ IDs and employment opportunities related to various e-Mitra services.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Nain said the preliminary investigation indicates that the accused allegedly collected Rs 40,000 to Rs 70,000 from each victim on the promise of providing employment and related facilities.
However, the promised services were allegedly never delivered. According to the preliminary investigation, the fake call centre had allegedly been operating for the past two to three years.
Police are conducting a detailed examination of the seized electronic devices and other evidence. Officials said the investigation is now focused on identifying the full extent of the network, tracing financial transactions, determining the number of victims, and establishing the roles of other individuals who may have been involved in the operation.
