Rajasthan has achieved the second position in India’s digital healthcare transformation, with over 7.19 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs created under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This milestone coincides with India surpassing 90 crore ABHA accounts in 2026, a significant step towards establishing a citizen-focused digital healthcare system. The state’s efforts, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, aim to enhance healthcare services through digital technologies, promoting accessibility and efficiency in the health sector.
The ABHA ID functions as a distinct digital health identity, allowing individuals to securely connect and manage their medical records with consent. This system empowers patients to access their health data via mobile devices, ensuring seamless healthcare services across various medical facilities. Data from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission reveals a consistent rise in ABHA account creation, with numbers escalating from 14.7 crore in 2021 to over 90 crore in 2026.
Health officials highlight ABHA as a crucial component of India’s digital health framework, facilitating the establishment of comprehensive health records spanning hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and digital health platforms. By granting citizens control over their healthcare information, the system prioritizes data privacy and transparency. Every registered individual under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission receives a unique 14-digit ABHA Health ID, serving as a digital repository for medical information.
The digital platform minimizes the necessity for patients to carry physical documents during hospital visits, enabling healthcare providers to access medical history with patient consent. This approach aids in informed treatment decisions by physicians and enhances care continuity. Rajasthan’s digital healthcare infrastructure is further bolstered by the Integrated Hospital Management System (IHMS), an ABDM-compliant software linking Electronic Health Records (EHRs) with ABHA IDs to streamline healthcare delivery.
Officials anticipate that the increasing adoption of ABHA accounts will fortify Rajasthan’s digital healthcare landscape, enhancing access to quality healthcare services in both urban and rural regions.
