Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s dedicated efforts have resulted in Rajasthan receiving significant funds under various Central Schemes to enhance health services. Over the past five years, the state has been allocated around Rs 4,300 crore through the 15th Finance Commission, with a notable release of Rs 2,700 crore in the last four months alone, showcasing the Chief Minister’s commitment. The Central Government has disbursed substantial funds to Rajasthan under schemes like the 15th Finance Commission, the National Health Mission, and the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
Under the National Health Mission, Rajasthan received approximately Rs 2,398 crore from the Central Government, surpassing the projected allocation for the year 2025-26 by 100.61%. Additionally, the state saw its highest-ever allocation of Rs 243 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. Minister for Medical and Health Gajendra Singh Khimsar highlighted the state’s focus on strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure, expanding Health and Wellness Centres, enhancing diagnostic facilities, and improving basic health infrastructure under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, mentioned that funds have been approved for various components under the 15th Finance Commission, emphasizing the development of basic health infrastructure in rural areas. Notably, significant funds have been allocated for constructing and upgrading buildings for sub-health centres, Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, diagnostic infrastructure, and Health and Wellness Centres across the state.
Amit Yadav, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, highlighted the positive impact of funds received from the 15th Finance Commission in expanding primary health services in both rural and urban areas. This has led to the enhancement of diagnostic services accessibility, construction and upgradation of health centre buildings, and bolstering preventive and holistic health services through Health and Wellness Centres. Moreover, the establishment of Public Health Units at the block level has strengthened epidemic and disease control capabilities.
