New Chandigarh, April 29 – Donovan Ferreira, the match winner for Rajasthan Royals, stressed the significance of self-belief and composure under pressure. His unbeaten 52-run innings led the team to a dramatic six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Stadium.
Ferreira credited Shubham Dubey for easing the pressure with an excellent performance. Together, they formed an unbeaten 77-run partnership in just 32 balls, steering Rajasthan to victory in 19.2 overs after chasing a challenging target of 223.
The Rajasthan Royals’ innings began strongly with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s explosive 43 off 16 balls and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quick 51. Despite a slowdown in the middle overs due to Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling, Ferreira and Dubey’s heroics sealed the win for RR.
Reflecting on the team’s strategy, Ferreira emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach, focusing on learning and growth regardless of wins or losses. Celebrating victories, learning from setbacks, and evolving as a team were highlighted as crucial for future success.
Punjab Kings had set a challenging target of 222/4, led by Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 62 off 22 balls, supported by Prabhsimran Singh’s 59 and Shreyas Iyer’s 30. However, Rajasthan’s fearless finish turned the game around, handing Punjab their first defeat of the season.
