Rajasthan’s Leader of Opposition, Tika Ram Jully, expressed appreciation for the inauguration of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra in Balotra. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that local youth from Barmer, Jodhpur, and the Marwar region are given priority in the job opportunities created by the project.
Jully also proposed the establishment of a Manmohan Singh Petroleum University in Barmer to honor the former Prime Minister. He envisioned this university as a center for top-notch education and research in the petroleum sector, aiming to produce skilled professionals from Rajasthan.
The Leader of Opposition lauded the refinery as a significant project for the state, noting that 85% of its construction was completed during the previous Congress-led government’s tenure. He highlighted the economic value of the project and urged the current BJP government to continue and accelerate infrastructure development initiated by the previous administration.
Jully stressed the necessity of developing a strong logistics network and supporting infrastructure around the refinery to maximize benefits for local businesses and ancillary industries. He also called for the creation of a comprehensive industrial ecosystem around the refinery to ensure that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Rajasthan fully capitalize on the project’s economic potential.
Advocating for a dedicated research and development (R&D) ecosystem in the petroleum sector, Jully proposed that Rajasthan should aim to become a leading petroleum knowledge hub in the country. He suggested establishing advanced laboratories and research infrastructure, not only at the proposed Manmohan Singh Petroleum University but also at technical and engineering institutions across the state.
