Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the significance of conventional military capabilities alongside emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence. He stressed that while new technologies are reshaping warfare, traditional military strength remains crucial. Singh underlined the necessity of balancing technological progress with conventional power, stating that neglecting conventional capabilities for new technology can have severe consequences. He also mentioned India’s commitment to excelling in both areas by investing in future technologies while maintaining strong conventional capabilities.
Singh referenced India’s successful integration of conventional and modern capabilities in recent military operations. He cited ‘Operation Sindoor’ as an example of India’s ability to defend itself and respond decisively to threats. The Defence Minister noted that each warship commissioned into the Navy contributes to strengthening India’s defense and industrial ecosystem. He emphasized the economic significance of indigenous warship construction, highlighting its role in driving progress across various sectors and generating employment opportunities.
In his address, Singh outlined India’s ambitious naval projects aimed at establishing the country as a global hub for shipbuilding and maritime defense innovation. He expressed confidence in India’s potential to become a leading nation in the maritime sector through collaboration with domestic industries, startups, and global partners. Singh also mentioned government initiatives such as the Maritime Development Fund and Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme to enhance the country’s shipbuilding capacity and maritime capabilities.
