The Rajya Sabha was adjourned until 2 pm on Monday as the Opposition persisted in disrupting proceedings over the alleged NEET paper leak and police actions against protesting students. This marked another day of the Monsoon Session without any legislative work. Earlier adjourned till noon, the House reconvened after an hour, with Congress member Pramod Tiwari from Rajasthan raising concerns about the NEET paper leak under Article 75.

He emphasized that the Council of Ministers was collectively responsible to the people and that Parliament was the supreme platform to clarify the situation. Tiwari alleged that students, including girls, were subjected to violence during the protests and urged Home Minister Amit Shah to address the matter in the House. Despite Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan’s plea to proceed with the Question Hour, DMK member Tiruchi Siva from Tamil Nadu intervened, seeking a ban on the NEET examination under Rule 267.

Siva highlighted the tragic suicides related to the issue and emphasized that while the government could take various actions, it couldn’t restore the lives lost. CPI(M) member John Brittas also spoke, expressing concern over the violence in India’s capital involving innocent children. The House was adjourned till 2 p.m. by the Chairman due to the ongoing disruptions, making it the sixth sitting day and the second week of the Monsoon Session with no substantial business conducted in the Upper House amidst the NEET controversy and student protests.
