Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing the efficiency of legislatures. He outlined steps necessary to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI technology. Speaking at the 86th All India Presiding Officers Conference in Lucknow, he emphasized the need for synergy between State Legislatures and Parliament to effectively utilize institutional knowledge.

Harivansh proposed practical cases and strategies for implementing AI in Parliament. He stressed the significance of legislatures as custodians of official policy documents and suggested using AI to create a platform for easy access to this information. The Deputy Chairman underscored the unique nature of parliamentary knowledge and the importance of training AI within the parliamentary context.

Advocating for a ‘Data Lake’ to train AI technology, Harivansh emphasized the necessity of human oversight in conjunction with AI capabilities. He discussed the ongoing AI-enabled transcription and interpretation services being tested in Parliament to cater to diverse language needs. Additionally, he called for increased awareness and training sessions for staff and legislators to enhance their efficiency in utilizing digital tools.
