National Award-winning filmmaker-producer Ram Gopal Varma announced that filming for ‘Sarkar 4’, the next installment of his political crime franchise, will commence next month. During the Red Lorry Film Festival’s opening day, Varma shared this update with attendees.
Varma, who was at the festival for a special screening of his cult-classic ‘Shiva’, discussed the film’s influences, citing renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg as a key inspiration for his visual style. He mentioned that some shots in ‘Shiva’ were influenced by Spielberg’s approach to shot composition.
In addition to ‘Sarkar 4’, Varma revealed that he is also working on another film titled ‘Syndicate’. He expressed confidence in ‘Syndicate’, stating, “My film ‘Syndicate’ will wash all my sins.”
Reflecting on his filmmaking journey, Varma admitted that earlier in his career, he seldom used bound scripts. He noted that his films faced setbacks once he adopted bound scripts, as they limited the scope for enhancing emotional depth during production.
When discussing contemporary cinema, Varma praised the film ‘Dhurandhar’ and highlighted his admiration for Aditya Dhar, considering him one of the most promising talents among current filmmakers.
The Red Lorry Film Festival, organized by BookMyShow, is currently ongoing at various venues in Mumbai.
