Although Union managed to pull one back through Doekhi’s header from a corner in the 78th minute, they were unable to mount a successful comeback. Leipzig’s solid performance kept them in control, with Union struggling to pose a significant threat. The defeat leaves Union in 11th place with 32 points, still wary of the relegation battle.
RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner emphasized the importance of the win, acknowledging the team’s objective. Meanwhile, Union Berlin’s Eta expressed disappointment at the result, recognizing Leipzig’s quality and their pursuit of a Champions League spot.
