As La Liga gears up for the upcoming 2026 winter transfer window commencing on January 2, Real Madrid and Lyon have reached an agreement. Brazilian striker Endrick will be loaned to Lyon for the remainder of the season, with Lyon paying Real Madrid approximately one million euros (1.18 million U.S. dollars) for the deal. The loan does not include an option for Lyon to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Endrick, a 19-year-old player who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, had a modest performance last season, scoring one goal in 22 La Liga matches. Despite his limited playing time this season due to injury, making only three appearances across different competitions, the loan move to Lyon is expected to provide him with more opportunities to play. This move aims to enhance his chances of securing a spot in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a separate development, reports from Brazilian media suggest that 29-year-old striker Gabriel Barbosa is on the verge of returning to his former club Santos on a year-long loan from Cruzeiro. Barbosa, a former Brazil international, has been struggling to secure regular playing time since his transfer from Flamengo in January. With Santos and Cruzeiro potentially splitting Barbosa’s salary equally, negotiations are underway. Barbosa’s strong connection with Santos forward Neymar, along with his impressive track record of 83 goals in 207 games for Santos, may influence the discussions.
