Reliance Industries dismissed a media report alleging a $30 billion claim by the Indian government against the company and BP. The company clarified that the actual claim is around $247 million, as disclosed in its financial statements. Reliance emphasized that the matters mentioned are under legal consideration and will be resolved through the country’s judicial system.

Reliance Industries, in partnership with BP, affirmed its adherence to contractual and legal obligations. The joint venture between BP and Reliance, known as Reliance bp Mobility Limited (RBML), was initiated in 2020 to establish a significant presence in India’s fuels and mobility markets. Operating under the “Jio-bp” brand, the venture aims to offer top-notch fuels, lubricants, retail, and sustainable mobility solutions in India.

BP and Reliance Industries have collaborated closely to finalize the joint venture, leveraging BP’s global expertise in various sectors. The partnership is geared towards enhancing India’s fuels and mobility sectors with innovative solutions and services.
