Religious minorities in Pakistan are subjected to discrimination and various forms of violence, as highlighted in a recent report. Incidents include abduction, forced conversions, mob attacks, targeted killings, land seizures, forced detentions, and damage to their places of worship.
One such case involved the abduction of a 15-year-old Hindu girl in Sindh province, who was forcibly converted to Islam and married off to an older man. Additionally, a Hindu woman and her daughter were kidnapped in Karachi, while a Pastor in Punjab was fatally shot by armed individuals.
Furthermore, attacks on minority places of worship have been reported, such as the targeting of an Ahmadi mosque during prayers and mob violence against Christian families. The situation reflects a broader pattern of systemic discrimination and violence against religious minorities in Pakistan.
According to a report cited in Sri Lanka Guardian, Pakistan’s religious minority communities face a range of abuses, including harassment, fabricated blasphemy charges, physical assaults, lynching, and property destruction. The report also highlighted cases of forced conversions and the neglect and destruction of minority places of worship.
