Rescue efforts at the Kalladi landslide site in Wayanad will persist on Wednesday as officials aim to locate the five individuals who are still unaccounted for. Kerala Ministers T. Siddique and A.P. Anil Kumar have affirmed a thorough search operation to find the missing persons. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan is scheduled to visit the disaster area later in the day after addressing the media in the state capital.
Operations at the site have confirmed three fatalities from the landslide, with the identities of the deceased individuals revealed as Chandrabhan, Vikas Kumar, and Anmol. The search continues for Vikram, Rahul, Mohammed Imran, Rakesh, and Asraruddin Ansari, who are yet to be found. Minister Anil Kumar described the incident as a tragic event, emphasizing the government’s preparedness for the monsoon season and the ongoing rescue efforts.
Efforts are underway to restore road connectivity to the affected region promptly, with plans for a detailed assessment of the landslide area divided into four zones. Search operations involve the deployment of cadaver dogs and volunteer assistance. The bodies of the deceased will be repatriated to their respective states, while restrictions will be in place at the site to ensure the safety of rescue teams and facilitate a thorough search.
