To ensure the safety of villagers residing near the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, the District Magistrate has enforced restrictions on movement within a five-kilometer radius of the border. The decision comes amidst heightened security concerns and the potential threat of cross-border firing in the region.
District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma emphasized the need for these measures to protect villagers and prevent any unlawful activities in the border areas. The restrictions include limiting unnecessary movement within a five-kilometer strip from the International Border in the designated area of responsibility.
In addition to restricting movement, heavy vehicles such as trucks and tippers are prohibited from using the old Samba-Kathua road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The order, effective immediately, will be enforced for a period of sixty days from its issuance date or until further notice.
The imposition of these restrictions aims to safeguard civilians residing in close proximity to the international border during times of heightened tensions and potential cross-border conflicts in Jammu and Kashmir.
