Dozens of retired senior American military leaders have endorsed the joint US-Israeli military action against Iran, citing the need to weaken Tehran’s ability to threaten the US, its allies, and regional stability. More than 70 retired US generals and admirals expressed their support for the ongoing campaign known as Operation Epic Fury in an open letter organized by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA).
The letter highlighted the importance of degrading and weakening the Iranian regime’s capacity to pose threats to the US, its allies, partners, and the Iranian people. It also praised the courage of American forces and intelligence personnel involved in the operation, emphasizing the urgent need to address the threat posed by Iran.
According to the signatories, Iran has been a consistent threat to American personnel and regional stability for over two decades, with hundreds of American lives lost due to the actions of the Islamic Republic and its proxies. The retired military leaders underscored Iran’s ambitions to target American interests, eliminate Israel, and dominate the region, posing a direct threat to global stability.
The letter also raised concerns about Iran’s pursuit of strategic capabilities, including missile and nuclear development, with the support of US adversaries like Russia, China, and North Korea. The retired officers emphasized that the current military action is a response to Iran’s ongoing efforts to expand its military and nuclear infrastructure, particularly intensifying its missile program after recent conflicts.
The signatories stressed the importance of close coordination between the US, Israel, and regional partners to address Iran’s aggressive behavior effectively. They concluded by stating that the future of Iran ultimately lies in the hands of its citizens, who have the power to bring about positive change for the country and the world.
