In a move to boost urban mobility, the Road Construction Department Secretary, Pankaj Kumar Pal, undertook thorough on-site inspections of key roads and flyovers in Patna. The inspections focused on assessing riding quality, technical issues, and traffic congestion, with strict deadlines set for necessary improvements.
During the inspections of major roadways like JP Ganga Path, Atal Path, and Patli Path, the Secretary emphasized zero tolerance for negligence in maintenance. Specific directives were given, such as repairing the main carriageway on Nehru Path within 15 days and addressing issues near Shivpuri Flyover, Digha Flyover, and Digha Rotary promptly.
Notably, officials were cautioned about facing consequences for any delays in addressing the identified issues. Concerns along JP Ganga Path from Digha to Didarganj were highlighted, including the deteriorated approach slab near Kurji bridge, which officials were instructed to rectify within 10 days.
The inspections also revealed deterioration on Patli Path, leading to instructions for submitting a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) within three days and accelerating maintenance work from the AIIMS roundabout to the JP Setu approach road through SDMC. Measures were discussed to alleviate chronic congestion near Raja Bazar Flyover, including potential tree felling, temple relocation, and clearance of obstructions to improve traffic flow.
Efforts to address congestion between R-Block and the Patna railway station roundabout were underscored, emphasizing the importance of long-term solutions. Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal reiterated the department’s dedication to prioritizing high-quality road infrastructure, stressing adherence to timelines and minimal public inconvenience.
The focus remains on enhancing riding comfort, rectifying defects, and ensuring seamless traffic operations throughout Patna.
