A robber was apprehended by the police in Patna following an encounter, which took place late Thursday night. The incident occurred as law enforcement officers were trying to capture individuals linked to a recent robbery case. One of the criminals involved sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the operation and was subsequently arrested.
The robbery in question happened on January 9 in the Katahra area under the Maner police station jurisdiction. The criminals had targeted a gold merchant, and the entire incident was captured on CCTV, gaining widespread attention on social media. This led to a prompt response from the police to address the situation.
The arrested individual has been identified as Nitish Kumar, a resident of Chaurasi village in the Maner police station vicinity. Kumar is among the three primary suspects implicated in the robbery of the gold merchant, Sanjay Soni. The police team, which included various officials, successfully apprehended the main accused late Thursday night as part of a special investigation.
During the interrogation, the accused guided the police to a location for the recovery of the weapon used in the crime. However, at the site, the individual attempted to escape by firing at the police team with the concealed pistol. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the suspect sustained a gunshot injury to the leg and was eventually subdued and taken into custody. The City SP West mentioned that a separate case will be filed against the accused for assaulting the police.
The injured suspect is currently receiving medical treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) under police supervision. The authorities are also in the process of verifying the criminal background of the arrested individual. Additionally, two other accomplices involved in the robbery attempt have been identified, with assurances from the police that they will be apprehended soon.
