The All India NR Congress, led by Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, is making moves to extend its presence into Tamil Nadu, marking its first significant step beyond the union territory. This strategic decision aims to fortify the party in preparation for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
The party’s leadership has given the green light to establish a unit in Tamil Nadu, with organizational groundwork set to accelerate in the upcoming months. Discussions have commenced with various politicians and public figures to establish a robust network before the formal launch of the Tamil Nadu unit.
Notable figures like Gandhimathi Parasuraman, former PMK working president, have engaged with Chief Minister Rangasamy, indicating a growing interest in the NR Congress’ expansion plans. These interactions, including meetings with former PMK MLA Arul Murugan and supporters, are geared towards strengthening the party’s structure in Tamil Nadu and identifying potential leaders for its growth.
Several leaders and office-bearers from different political parties in Tamil Nadu have shown willingness to join the NR Congress, with many expected to officially join in the coming weeks. The party will kick off its outreach with a public event in Chennai on August 9, outlining its vision for Tamil Nadu and setting the stage for its future political endeavors.
