The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal in facilitating corruption at the Vigilance office. Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia raised concerns about private individuals being aided in evading trap operations with the help of armed Punjab Police gunmen. The recent arrests of Vikas Goel and Raghav Goel in the company of armed gunmen near Ambala have raised questions about official security approvals for private middlemen.
Allegations have surfaced regarding the political protection extended to these elements by CM Mann and Kejriwal, with claims of institutional decay and posts being allegedly put up for sale. Majithia highlighted instances of corruption within the Vigilance department, citing cases where money was demanded and taken to settle probes. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive probe into corrupt practices, including illegal land deals involving Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha and his family members, as well as the actions of DGP Gaurav Yadav.
The SAD leader also called for an investigation into the connections between Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, who faces corruption charges, and Kejriwal, suggesting a role in money collection and laundering for the AAP leadership. The party expressed concerns over potential linkages that could implicate top officials and demanded a transparent inquiry to establish accountability. Meanwhile, the Vigilance Bureau assured full cooperation with ongoing investigations, emphasizing adherence to legal processes and accountability.
