Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a CBI investigation into the death of Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa. Randhawa took his own life due to alleged physical and mental harassment by AAP leader Laljit Bhullar.
Harsimrat Badal emphasized the need for an independent agency like the CBI to conduct a thorough investigation, citing the seriousness of the allegations and the necessity for impartiality. She highlighted Randhawa’s qualifications and responsibilities before his tragic death on March 21, urging for justice and transparency in the case.
In a letter to Amit Shah, Badal revealed that Randhawa, a well-qualified officer, had expressed his distress in a video message prior to his death. She pointed out a systemic failure in responding to the officer’s pleas for help, indicating a lack of action by the Aam Aadmi Party government despite being informed of the situation.
Badal also mentioned the FIR filed against former minister Bhullar and others, detailing the extreme pressure and harassment faced by Randhawa. The allegations include physical assault, threats, and coercion to influence a tender decision, reflecting an abuse of power and violation of human rights that led to the tragic outcome.
