Sadhus and sants in Ayodhya expressed their support for the prohibition of non-vegetarian food delivery within a 15-km radius of the Ram Temple. They emphasized the importance of enforcing this ban to maintain the sanctity of the holy city. Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das highlighted that devotees visiting the city for worship should not encounter such practices, considering it disrespectful to Lord Ram and the city itself.
Deveshacharya Maharaj, another spiritual leader, lauded the decision to ban the sale and display of non-vegetarian food items in Ayodhya. He emphasized that Ayodhya, being the city of Lord Ram and a hub of spirituality, should uphold cultural values by restricting such offerings. He welcomed the move, emphasizing the need to preserve cultural dignity through such regulations.
The Ayodhya administration recently imposed a ban on the delivery of non-vegetarian food within the temple’s vicinity following complaints about online platforms supplying such items during the Panchkosi Parikrama. Officials also noted instances of hotels and homestays serving non-vegetarian food and alcohol to guests, warning these establishments to cease such practices to uphold cultural sanctity.
In a previous instance in May 2025, the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation had prohibited the sale of liquor and meat along the Ram Path connecting Ayodhya and Faizabad. However, locals reported inadequate enforcement of the liquor ban, with several alcohol outlets still operating along the route, contrary to the regulations.
