The co-chief executive officers of Samsung Electronics have committed to bolstering the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) capacity in the face of increasing global competition. Vice Chairman and CEO Jun Young-hyun emphasized the need to meet the surging demand for AI chips worldwide. Samsung Electronics stands out as the sole chipmaker offering a comprehensive solution covering logic chips, memory, foundry services, and advanced packaging.
Jun stressed the importance of leveraging cutting-edge AI technology and high-quality data to develop specialized AI solutions for semiconductors. He emphasized the integration of these solutions into various aspects like design, research, production, and quality management to drive innovation in chip technology. Additionally, Samsung’s HBM4 business showcased its competitive edge in the market, prompting a call for enhancing the company’s technological prowess to navigate external uncertainties.
President Roh Tae-moon, another co-CEO overseeing the device experience division, highlighted the significance of embedding AI technology across Samsung’s product lineup. Roh emphasized the need for seamless integration of AI technology into all devices and service ecosystems to deliver exceptional customer experiences. He underscored that AI transformation is not merely a tool but a transformative process reshaping approaches and operations fundamentally.
In a separate communication, Samsung SDI CEO Choi Joo-sun encouraged employees to adopt a “pessimistic optimism” outlook for 2026. Choi advocated acknowledging real-world risks while preparing for positive outcomes. Despite the prevailing complexities, Choi expressed confidence that by enhancing technological competitiveness and moving towards a market supercycle collectively, a promising future awaits.
