Sandip Sagale has taken over as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Gujarat, reviewing the state’s election administration on his first day. Following the Election Commission of India’s orders last month, Sagale assumed office and conducted a comprehensive assessment of the election management system. He held a review meeting with various officials to evaluate the current status of election-related processes.
During the meeting, officials provided updates on different operational aspects, including election management, coordination, electoral roll management, media cell activities, grievance redressal mechanisms, and information technology systems. Sagale received briefings from branch officers and issued necessary directives to enhance the efficiency of the election administration. He stressed the importance of conducting effective training programs for officials at all administrative levels to boost preparedness for election duties.
Furthermore, discussions during the review encompassed preparations for upcoming electoral activities in Gujarat and the summary revision of electoral rolls. This interaction allowed Sagale to familiarize himself with the election machinery’s functioning and assess the staff’s readiness for future electoral tasks. As the newly appointed Chief Electoral Officer, Sagale will oversee election processes in Gujarat, ensuring coordination with district authorities and compliance with Election Commission directives.
Prior to his current role, Sagale, a 2007-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, served in various administrative positions, including Director General of the Sports Authority of Gujarat and Industries Commissioner. His experience includes stints as district collector in Narmada, Bharuch, Banaskantha, and Ahmedabad.
