Actor Sanjay Dutt, portraying Afzal Khan in the upcoming movie ‘Raja Shivaji’, commended his friend and director Riteish Deshmukh at the film’s trailer launch in Mumbai. Dutt expressed his gratitude towards the cast and crew, highlighting his longstanding relationship with Deshmukh. He emphasized that despite playing Afzal Khan, his character in the film, he is not like him.
Dutt shared his challenging yet rewarding experience working on the film, praising Deshmukh’s dedication and direction. ‘Raja Shivaji’, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, narrates the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha warrior-king. The movie combines visual splendor with a poignant narrative centered on the birth of Swarajya, showcasing Shivaji’s historical significance in establishing the Maratha Empire by confronting the Deccan Sultanates and the Mughal Empire.
The film features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, and others. ‘Raja Shivaji’, a production of Mumbai Film Company presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, is scheduled for a global theatrical release on May 1, 2026, in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu languages.
