Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta took to social media to criticize the decision of FWICE to ban actor Ranveer Singh for leaving “Don 3”. Gupta highlighted that banning a top actor like Ranveer could result in many set workers losing their jobs. He emphasized the impact on over 300 workers involved in a typical A-list actor’s shoot.
FWICE imposed a non-Cooperation Directive on Ranveer Singh based on a complaint from “Don 3” producers, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, citing a Rs 45 crore loss in pre-production costs. The federation’s Chief Advisor, Ashoke Pandit, revealed that Ranveer withdrew from the film just three weeks before shooting was set to begin, causing significant financial repercussions.
Despite attempts to engage with Ranveer, including invitations for discussions, the actor remained unresponsive. Ranveer’s spokesperson later clarified his stance, expressing respect for the film industry and the “Don” franchise. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of handling professional matters with dignity and mutual respect.
