Bollywood actress Sayani Gupta is stepping into production with her new short film ‘Aasmani’. After years in the film industry, Gupta’s move towards production stems from a desire to have a more hands-on approach to storytelling. She expressed her vision to focus on creating a collaborative environment and emphasized the importance of quality writing and storytelling in her projects.
Gupta’s debut production, ‘Aasmani’, features Revathy, Daria Bedi, and Abhay Kaul, and marks the inception of Sayani Gupta Movies. The actress, who has previously co-produced works like ‘Where the Winds Blow’ and ‘Upar Neeche’, highlighted the significance of dedicating time and attention to each project for ensuring excellence. The film, supported by Sumitra Gupta Foundation for Arts and One India Stories, also involves Executive Producers Nikkhil Advani, Dia Mirza, and Ananya Rane.
Having scouted locations in Maharashtra for over a year, Gupta chose Pune as the film’s base due to her connection with FTII, her alma mater. Juggling both production and direction for the first time posed a significant challenge. Additionally, Gupta shared her involvement in two international co-productions of diverse genres, showcasing her expanding role as a producer.
