Arrest Made in Alleged Harassment Case of Bengali Singer
The school owner accused of harassing Bengali singer Lagnajita Chakraborty was arrested by the police. An inquiry has been initiated against Shahanshah Haque, the officer-in-charge of Bhagwanpur police station in East Midnapore district.
Lagnajita alleged that she was harassed during her performance at an event in South Point Public School. The singer claimed that after singing a song, a man from the audience tried to assault her, but was stopped by others.
The school owner, Mehboob Mallick, reportedly behaved rudely towards Lagnajita and verbally abused her when she refused to continue performing. Mehboob, the main accused, was arrested within 24 hours of the incident based on her complaint.
Lagnajita visited the Bhagwanpur police station to report the incident and filed a general diary entry. Concerns have been raised about the lack of an FIR filing by the police. The authorities have assured a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.
