A tragic incident in Bihar’s Nawada district resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl and left over a dozen school children injured when a school van overturned on Kamlapur Road in the Govindpur block. The van lost control, veered off the road, and flipped multiple times, causing chaos in the area. Local villagers, who were nearby harvesting wheat, rushed to the scene and played a vital role in rescuing the children and taking them to nearby hospitals.
Eyewitnesses reported that the van, which was supposed to carry 15 students, was overloaded with more than 25 children at the time of the accident. The driver, allegedly speeding and under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the tragic outcome. Currently, one student has lost her life, two are in critical condition, and others are being closely monitored by medical professionals.
Following the mishap, the police have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the condition of the vehicle, the driver’s behavior, and adherence to safety protocols. The errant driver has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him for reckless driving. The district police will also conduct a thorough medical examination of the driver to ascertain his condition at the time of the accident.
