The search continues for three members of a Jaisalmer family who went missing after their vehicle plunged into the Alaknanda river near Devprayag in Uttarakhand. SDRF teams and divers are working diligently in the river’s deeper areas to locate the missing mother and her two daughters. The family had been on a trip to Uttarakhand for the Char Dham pilgrimage and sightseeing when the tragic incident occurred on June 2.
Officials have confirmed that the missing individuals are Guddi Devi (40) and her daughters Namrata (20) and Janhavi (15). Despite earlier combing efforts along eight kilometers downstream of the river, SDRF teams are now focusing on deep-water searches with the assistance of divers. The vehicle involved in the accident, an Innova, has been retrieved from the riverbed, but no occupants were found inside.
The family, which included Dr. Dinesh Kumar, his mother Kamala Devi, Guddi Devi, and her children, had been touring Uttarakhand. Tragedy struck as they were returning to Haridwar on June 2. The accident claimed the lives of several family members, including Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Kamala Devi, the driver, and one of Guddi Devi’s daughters. With three family members still missing, rescue operations are ongoing, and relatives have decided to conduct funeral rites in Uttarakhand.
The lone survivor, Ayushman (12), is currently receiving treatment at AIIMS Rishikesh for severe injuries sustained in the accident. Despite the devastation caused by the tragedy, family members hold onto hope as search operations persist in challenging conditions.
