Security forces in Manipur’s Ukhrul district have taken down multiple illegal bunkers following clashes between armed groups from different communities, resulting in three injuries. Coordinated operations at various locations led to the destruction of two bunkers in villages inhabited by Naga and Kuki community members. The authorities recovered numerous fired cartridges during the operation, significantly reducing firing incidents in the area.
Tensions between Kuki and Tangkhul Naga villagers near Litan Sareikhong prompted joint operations to address the situation. Previous clashes had caused the destruction of over 30 houses, with ongoing firing incidents reported in several villages. Recent injuries included two Tangkhul Naga villagers hurt in Sharkaphung and a Kuki woman injured in Mongkot Chepu. Separately, a suspect linked to a 2025 case was arrested, and a cache of arms was seized in other areas.
Security forces continue their crackdown on militant activities, conducting search operations and area domination drives in various districts. Checkpoints have been established across Manipur to monitor suspicious movements, with escorts provided to essential commodity-carrying vehicles on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway. Strict security measures are in place in sensitive zones to ensure safe transit, with the public urged to verify information before sharing and return any looted items to authorities promptly.
