In an operation against Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, security forces found two pressure cooker improvised explosive devices near Todma village and Tular Caves under Barsur Police Station on Thursday. The joint effort involved the District Reserve Guard of Dantewada and Barsur Police Station personnel.
Acting on specific intelligence, teams launched a targeted search in forest areas of Todma, Gomter, and Tular Caves after information about Maoists planting IEDs. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai mentioned that de-mining operations began in Todma village, Tular Caves, and the surrounding dense forest.
A joint team, including DRG personnel and officers from Barsur Police Station, conducted a thorough search based on a credible tip-off. They discovered an explosive dump hidden by Maoists, containing two pressure cooker IEDs, each weighing five kilograms with fifteen meters of wire. These devices, commonly used by Maoists for ambushes, posed a significant threat to security personnel and local villagers.
Following standard procedures, the BDDS team safely defused the explosives, averting potential harm to lives and property. This successful recovery prevented a potentially deadly incident in the Maoist-affected region, showcasing a significant achievement in neutralizing Maoist infrastructure.
