A security guard was fatally shot by unknown attackers at the JMP premises on the Medininagar Bypass Road in Jharkhand’s Palamu district. The incident, suspected to be related to an old rivalry, occurred on Sunday night, leading to the immediate launch of a police investigation. The victim, identified as Vinod Pandey, aged 50, lost his life in the attack that caused panic in the area.
Eyewitnesses reported that a youth on a scooter arrived at the premises around 11 p.m. on Sunday and later called two accomplices to the scene. The trio was seen wandering around before approaching the main gate with the security guard, whom they shot at close range. The guard succumbed to his injuries on the spot, with the assailants fleeing right after the assault.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, securing the area and commencing a thorough investigation. Police are collecting forensic evidence and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the perpetrators. Initial inquiries suggest a recent dispute during a birthday celebration at the same site may be connected to the tragic event.
Police are exploring all possible leads, including whether the murder is linked to the prior altercation involving the premises manager and a group associated with Kamlesh Mehta, son of Jateshwar Mehta. Raids are underway at suspected hideouts as the search for the suspects intensifies. The investigation includes questioning witnesses and reconstructing the sequence of events using technical and forensic evidence.
