Preparations for the new Chief Minister’s oath-taking ceremony at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground have led to heightened security measures. The ground has been divided into 30 sections, with about 4,000 policemen set to be deployed for the event. Each section will be overseen by a police officer of the rank of Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner, supported by various other police personnel.
In addition to the large police presence, central forces jawans may also be stationed at the ground if needed. Senior police officials will be responsible for the overall security of the venue. The ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, will be graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states.
The main stage of the swearing-in ceremony will host the Prime Minister and Home Minister, along with Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states like Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. Stringent security measures will be in place, including the use of metal detectors and thorough checking procedures to prevent unauthorized entry with weapons. Surveillance will be conducted from multi-storey buildings surrounding the ground, with CCTV cameras covering the entire area.
On the day of the event, special traffic arrangements will be implemented to manage the flow of vehicles and prevent congestion. The police have advised that vehicles may be redirected to alternate routes as necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow around the Brigade Parade Ground.
