Nearly 3,000 police personnel have been deployed in Chennai for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to the city. Modi is set to arrive on Friday for campaign activities before the elections. He will land in Chennai at 3.20 p.m. and then fly to Puducherry for campaign programs.
The visit to Puducherry holds political significance as the BJP aims to strengthen its presence in the union territory and neighboring Tamil Nadu. Party leaders are optimistic that Modi’s visit will motivate supporters and enhance the election campaign’s momentum. After his Puducherry engagements, Modi will return to Chennai and stay overnight at a five-star hotel in Guindy.
In Chennai, security measures have been intensified for Modi’s visit. Police presence has been increased at sensitive locations like the airport, Guindy, and Meenambakkam. Security personnel are stationed every 10 feet along designated routes to ensure vigilance and crowd control. Drones are prohibited in high-security zones, and traffic diversions are expected in parts of the city.
On Saturday, Modi will conclude his Chennai visit and head to Kerala for further campaign activities.
