Polling for the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections has led to increased vigilance by security agencies along Bihar’s border areas, particularly in Katihar district. Police are conducting thorough inspections of vehicles at 11 strategic entry and exit points connected to West Bengal to prevent any illegal activities.
The inter-state border between Bihar and West Bengal has been sealed off, with security personnel closely monitoring all routes. Bihar Police have taken a zero-tolerance approach to ensure a peaceful election environment, especially in areas prone to drug trafficking and other illegal operations.
Authorities have ramped up enforcement measures to prevent cross-border crimes during the election period. Recent anti-narcotics operations in border areas have disrupted illegal networks, leading to heightened surveillance and strict monitoring of suspicious movements.
Security checks have also been intensified in Kishanganj and Purnea districts, with all routes to West Bengal undergoing thorough inspections. The administrations of these districts have adopted a zero-tolerance policy to ensure the elections are conducted peacefully and fairly.
